Oh my, how time flies!  It's already June, and that's scary.

Quick updates:
1. On May 10th, I participated in UNT's commencement exercises!  That means, besides waiting for the Graduate Reader to check my dissertation, I'm a doctor!  Hooray!!

2. Today I found out that I'll officially be spending two weeks in July in Brazil!  I'm going to be teaching and performing at the Pro-Musica festival in Juiz de Fora, outside of Rio de Janiero.  This festival has a longstanding tradition, and I am excited to be invited to be a part of its legacy.  Click here to check out the Festival's website here (in Portuguese, hooray for GoogleTranslate).  While I'm not a soccer/futebol fan, I'm sure the excitement around the World Cup will be memorable!  I've been learning Portuguese through an online subscription to Rosetta Stone, so we'll see how much sticks between now and then.

But, before Brazil, I'll be playing and recording with the North Texas Wind Symphony, and hopefully teaching a bunch of summer lessons.  Sounds like a great summer!

What are your summer plans?

What a busy Spring it's been!

A couple highlights:
- completing, presenting, defending, and submitting my dissertation!  (I'm a doctor!!)
- performing as a soloist with the North Texas Symphonic Band!

Ok, that's only two highlights, but they're big ones.

Click Here to watch my performance with the North Texas Symphonic Band

I'll be walking at UNT's Graduation Commencement exercises on May 9th, and that will be livestreamed here, so you can watch me officially become a doctor.

So for the past couple of weeks, I had been rehearsing with Dennis Fisher and the North Texas Symphonic Band to perform all of Richard Strauss's first Horn Concerto on this past week.  My parents came into town, and my sister flew in from Hawaii to make it to this performance!  I was so excited!

Then, late on Monday night, the weather turned a bit chilly.  (Well, since I'm from southern Arizona, I think it was quite cold, but not the coldest I've been in.)  Predicting lots of sleet/ice for Tuesday, 2/11, the University shut down, canceling that evening's concert.  My performance being cancelled was disappointing, but it was even more disappointing that the weather ended up being pretty nice that day, the sun was even shining!  Oh well.

Mr. Fisher has graciously allowed the Strauss to be rescheduled, and I'm planning to play it on Thursday, March 27th at 7:30 pm (central)!  Weather permitting, of course. :)  So, mark your calendars!  This concert will stream online at www.UNTmusiclive.com or http://recording.music.unt.edu/live , and you can find this also in the Media/Links page of this site.

I've also got another big event on the near horizon: my Lecture-Recital is scheduled for March 4th at 6:30 pm (central)!  I don't think I'll have streaming capabilities, but feel free to come watch and listen if you're in the DFW area, or just send me good vibes.

Welcome to my new Website!  And, since you're reading this, you've found my blog -- congratulations!

Building this website has been pretty simple, so far, and I'm looking forward to adding more media items as I procure them.  Stay tuned for YouTube links to streaming Audio and Video!  And, early this year I'll have (hopefully) fantastic photographs taken by the wonderful Michelle Hurt; I'm really excited to get to work with such a wonderful photographer.  Click here to check out Michelle's website, and be sure to consider her for all of your photography needs in the North-DFW area!

Also, I've got several exciting events coming up in the first half of 2014, so check back for more details!  2013 has been a great year, and I'm excited to see where 2014 takes me!

Thanks for stopping by!
